# Handling Leads Manually

> How to remove a lead from automations and take over manually

Sometimes you'll handle a lead directly - a phone call, a referral, someone you already spoke with. In those cases, you need to remove them from the automated text sequence so they don't keep getting follow-up texts.

<Note>
  If you schedule an appointment for a lead (whether through the CRM or by calling them directly and booking it yourself), they are automatically unenrolled from the text automations. No manual removal needed.

## Remove a Lead from Text Automations

If you've already spoken to a lead or handled them manually:

        Find the contact in your CRM and open their record.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Go to Actions → Workflows">
        Click the **Actions** button and select **Workflows**.

      <Step title="Find the active workflow">
        Look for the workflow labeled **Initial Text Follow Up** (the name may vary slightly by niche).
      </Step>

      <Step title="Remove them">
        Remove them from that workflow. If you don't see it listed, they're already out.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Open the contact">
        Find the contact in the LeadConnector app and open their record.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Tap the More / Actions menu">
        Tap the menu icon and look for **Workflows** or **Automations**.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Find the active workflow">
        Look for **Initial Text Follow Up** and tap to open it.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Remove them">
        Tap **Remove** to take them out of the workflow.
      </Step>

<Note>
  If you do not remove them, they will continue receiving automated texts even after you've already spoken with them.

## Kill All Convos Tag

If you need to immediately stop all outreach for a lead, run the **Kill All Convos** workflow on their contact record. This turns off the AI and removes them from all active workflows in one step.

## Taking Over a Conversation

If you're jumping into an active conversation:

1. Turn off the AI (see [AI On / Off](/managing/ai-on-off))
2. Handle the conversation manually
3. Turn the AI back on when you're done, or leave it off if you're managing this lead yourself
